This was my first bowl. I started with a pinch pot on the bottom and used a slab to make the walls of my bowl. I did not like this method and as seen below I used a different method and liked the outcome much better. I used a coil method as my foot and I liked how that came out and will use that in the future. I used an underglaze and it was a lighter blue when I put it on but after getting glazed with clear glaze and fired it became a darker navy blue color. I did one color of underglaze because I was testing out colors for my final. My bowl came out fairly smooth but I could have taken more time to smooth out the brim of my bowl and the edges. Although it is not smooth it is unique and there are no sharp edges, maybe some rough spots when touched.

This was my second bowl. After completing my first bowl I was able to do things differently with my second bowl. I learned a lot from my first bowl and a few things I did differently were, I used a coil to add height to the sides of my bowl instead of the slab because it was easier to form and smooth out, it also gave me a rounder look when looking down on the bowl. I also didn’t make the sides as tall and I did not use the same color as the first bowl, I used a red underglaze and added a little white underglaze to make a light pink shade. Things I did the same were, I used the same method of starting with a pitch pot, I used the same coil method for the base and I used the same clear glaze on top to get that shine after being fired. I liked this bowl much better and I am using more of these methods for my final bowl, I am glad I was able to create 2 preliminary bowls as a trial and error so I could get the best outcome and methods for my final set.
